Dave Brubeck wrote
his first large-scale jazz choral work, A Light in the Wilderness, in
1968, to address the climate of racial exclusion and intolerance in the United
States at the time. It begins with Jesus' temptations and wandering in the
desert, and climaxes with the movement, "Love Your Enemies". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsEJJiMVXfU&index=4&list=PLxFVkD_OKHa2iLzH7mkjEalclnitm7YIO
